MBCT Courses

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is a research based course designed by leaders in the psychology field, including Jon Kabat-Zinn. It is an 8-wk structured course, with daily meditation homework, and a group meeting once per week in person or over video. Over the years MBCT has been aggressively researched to repeatedly show positive results for many stress-related disorders and diseases. Look below to see the areas researched and if they may apply to your current situation.

As detailed in this recent publication by researcher Stuart J. Eisendrath, learning and practicing the MBCT protocol trains the mind to let go of unwanted thoughts, feelings, and sensations by anchoring the mind in the present moment, with awareness, through a dedicated practice. This in turn stops the inner feeling of dis-ease and helps with many acute and chronic diseases.

Below you’ll find two courses that I teach (MBCT and MBCT-S) that are mindfulness-meditation based. Both MBCT and MBCT-S are 8-week long courses that also assist with stress-reduction, depression, and anxiety. Each week has a 2-hour gathering (in person and/or online) to teach and practice a mindfulness/meditation concept, then you continue it daily until we meet again for the next concept. After 8-weeks of training you will have new neurological patterns in place (the “muscle-memory”) to continue on your own with confidence. A 4-week “tuneup” course is also available for those who have completed the 8-week course.

These courses are held in person in downtown Duncan (next to the Garage). Please email for details and to be placed on the wait-list (kyle@mind-bodyhealth.ca). Please check back for more details.

EXTENDED HEALTH PLANS: check with your extended health plan to see if you qualify for “group therapy” or other mental health services

STAFF /MANAGEMENT TRAINING: Email to inquire about group courses (e.g., stress-management, mindfulness/meditation) that can be offered at your place of work in Duncan, Shawnigan Lake, Victoria, and Langford.
